It’s been said that you don’t get too many ‘do-overs’ in life. At least, it seems, not often with the things that have the most impact and long-term consequences. This is becoming critically clear with respect to the state of the earth’s environment and the potential negative impacts (economic, social and personal) it will have on the quality of all of our lives. Yes, each of us as individuals ... not just the undefined masses. Fortunately, as individuals, we can make choices now that can positively alter these outcomes.

One of our favorite instances of  “re” as a syllable occurs in the word “re-spon-si-ble”, as in “responsible consumer”.  This is YR’s focus: the education and development of responsible consumers. As you’ve seen, YR’s action-oriented services allow you, as an individual, to participate in a variety of easy, practical ways; they allow you to directly experience the importance of your individual actions. In this section of the website, we’ll do it in words that, we hope, will lead you to other proactive, preventive and reactive actions that will literally change your world for the better in many ways.

Fortunately, when it comes to our personal impact on our environment, there are opportunities for ‘do-overs’ (recycling!); but more importantly, there are actions you can take in the present to be proactive in preventing and reducing the need for ‘do-overs’. Here you’ll learn what it means to be a ‘responsible consumer’ and how you can be one on a daily basis. Start with learning the “pro”, “pre” and “re” involved in the responsible consumer’s cycle and keep coming back to learn the habits and implement the everyday practical actions of a responsible consumer.

Here’s one more definition: critical mass - n- An amount or level needed for a specific result or new action to occur; a size, number, or amount large enough to produce a particular result; point of change: a point or situation at which change occurs.

So, a ‘critical mass’ in any situation can only be formed by an aggregate of material, components, or... individuals. Collectively, every individual action builds a momentum. Which “result” or “point of change” do you want your actions to support when it comes to the viability and quality of your and your family’s environment and world?

The links on this page will build over time to help you become a responsible consumer.
